Riu Palace Punta Cana, DR
My husband and I chose the resort for our honeymoon in early September 2011. We stayed 5 days and 4 nights.
The service was excellent, however, they don't speak much English, so you should brush up on Spanish language. Their food was not authentic; just the plantains, rice and beans.
The meats, steak, pork chops, etc. were cooked hard so they were tough to eat. Even their ribs were not too tasty.
But the service was awesome and the waiters were friendly.
The rooms were musty and damp. We had to buy candles to get rid of the smell. The shops are overpriced, if you travel out of town they will be cheaper to include souvenirs.
The beach was very nice except for the seaweed that washed up on shore.
Overall, the resort was beautiful and well maintained but what they fail to tell you is that it is a smoking resort!!!! There is smoke everywhere, there are ashtrays everywhere. If you are a non-smoker this resort is not suitable for you..
Otherwise....a very nice resort!
Rate 4.5...without the smoke and musty smell it would have been a 5.
