Ocean Blue and Sand Punta Cana, July 2014

Five star hotel? You must be kidding. This resort suffers from a severe case of split personality. We were a family of nine staying in four privilege mini suites.

Check in

Privilege check in was a nice touch. The cold towels, the champagne. Maybe they should put more effort into getting rooms ready when promised and not issuing keys to rooms they said were ready but were not.

Transportation ran very well around the resort and was always available when needed. Having dedicated privilege transportation was nice.

Rooms are very nice--good size! nicely decorated. Location of the two privilege buildings next to the pool, the beach and the dedicated breakfast restaurant a great plus.

Maid service ranged from not available to inattentive to slow and unprofessional. We needed to call three times for promised robes and slippers and some were never delivered. One room never got towels and had to take them off the carts as needed.

The inability of some staff in restaurants to not be able to communicate even basic English was a real turn off.

Food was good to very good except Route 66 which should not be allowed to call itself a restaurant. And what gives with half the restaurants not having bathrooms.
