Riu Palace Macao Punta Cana

Have fun at the Riu Palace Macao Punta Cana Resort

The Riu Palace Macao Punta Cana is indeed a remarkable one in Punta Cana for many reasons. This 5 star resort is part of the Riu complex in Punta Cana.

This resort is not a big one only 364 rooms which makes it one of the smallest comparing to the majority of them. Beautifully distributed white sand beach combined with stunning and abundant vegetation surrounds this magnificent piece of art. Among the Riu hotels this one is said to be one of the top ones.

Star ranking of hotel      Couples oriented?
Overall service      Family oriented?
Room quality      All inclusive?
Overall entertainment      Facilities quality

This resort is more oriented toward couples than anything else. Even when families can still have a lot of fun in here the truth is the atmosphere is more romantic than adventurous.

The excellent service with fantastic entertainment and activities helps a lot to make this place something worth remembering. This resort consist of 3 story building, its style of architecture is colonial, is located at 19 km from the Punta Cana international airport and 31 miles from the city of Higuey. Since this resort is part of the Riu complex like the rest of them attract Europeans more than anyone else so that means lot of smoking which is quite popular between them.

Rooms

The rooms in the Riu Palace Macao Punta Cana have a very nice laid out, they are very clean and organized, and they are not small nor very big. They have a king size bed, a couple of beautifully well made wooden chairs and bathroom with bidet, hairdryer, air condition, mini bar, fan, satellite TV, in-room safe, iron and ironing table, radio alarm and balcony. The suites will have some extra features like a living room area with an extra TV. The Jacuzzi suites will have obviously a Jacuzzi plus all the previous features for the other room types.

Pool and Beaches

There is a pool in the Riu palace Macao Punta Cana, however, is quite simple in design. The pool looks great but lack many features that pools in other resorts possess, in size the pool is not big but is not that tiny as to be ignored. The fact that it has many palms surrounding it gives it a nice touch comparing to other pools. It also has a small children pool around 6 square meters. So the pool should not be the main factor for getting in this resort. The beach in this resort is another story unlike the pool this beach is indeed one of the best in Punta Cana. The beach here is Arena Gorda, one of the most renowned beaches in the world.

The crystal clear water with the snowy white sands give it a nice touch. There are many chairs and palapas in this beach which give you a good chance of getting one of them before they are all taken however never forget that you must get them before 8:00 am or it will be too late.

Food

The resort offer very nice meals in their restaurants. The main one is El patio which is the buffet restaurant it offers a wide variety of food that I’m sure you will find something you love. This is the place where you will eat most of your meals as they offer breakfast, lunch and dinner. For the dinner they decided to make 2 turns to diminish the traffic of people. One turn at 6:30 the other at 8:30 this way of serving food is seems to be very effective. You will also a couple of a la carte restaurants in the Riu Palace Macao Punta Cana: The Grill and steakhouse which offer a very tasty array of well cooked meat. The kabuki Japanese restaurant  as you can guess all Japanese stuff you can think of and Italian cuisine as well. I personally recommend the steakhouse as I have a weakness for a very well cooked steak. The a la carte restaurants are usually open for dinner only and require reservation as well formal dress clothing (long trousers for men).

Entertainment

Even when this resort is more oriented toward couples there is still many activities that can be done in here. Plenty of sports here like golf, tennis, polo, horseback riding, mountain biking, hiking, rafting, sailing, deep sea fishing, etc. They provide an introductory scuba lesson in the pool. Despite the reefs, the water here is very shallow which is perfect for snorkeling beginners. Fishing here is very popular getting fishes like blue marlin, barracuda and dorado is a very interesting activity. The best time fishing here is the summer. Wind surfing and parasailing is very good here too. The night entertainment at the Riu Palace Macao Punta Cana includes one of the most famous discos, the Pacha, which can be visited by all the Riu clientele. Live shows, children entertainment program (ages 4 to 12), the casino is always a good choice to spend the night with the chance of getting some money. Also unlimited local and imported beverages in the resort area (not including the Pacha nightclub).
