Punta Cana Water Sports
If you like to have fun in the water, there are many options in
the Punta Cana water sports, it goes from sailing to windsurfing.
Punta Cana Catamarans and sailboats
Sailing in catamaran is one of the most joyful
experiences ever. Punta Cana is one of the best places to be delighted with such
a wonderful experience. The excursion takes like half a day or a complete day to
do. In Punta Cana water sports the most common destination for catamaran is the isle of
Saona. Before getting to the catamaran you have to take a boat to it since is
anchored a bit away from the coast. Once in there you have the chance to take a
quick swim in the waters to relax for a moment. When the catamaran is ready to
sail you hop in and start enjoying the sea breeze of the Caribbean.
Free drinks and snacks await in the catamaran to make the
little time there a more merry time with a soft touch of nice Caribbean music
for anyone that feels like dancing. Just like before getting to the catamaran,
it anchors at some distance from the coast and then the people take a small boat
to the island. The trip in the catamaran last from 2 to 3 hours. A very nice
feast await in the island. Food like: rice, beans, chicken, and fish are part of
the delicious food in the island.

In the island you can go to the beach and feel the
Punta Cana breeze and swim or just
simply stay in the sand for a nice tan. The return trip is pretty much like the
going one, and is always nice to take a break after the boat ride to get to swim
in the sea before taking the catamaran. Almost every resort in Punta Cana offer
an excursion to the isle of Saona in a catamaran and the price range goes from
65 to 75 US dollars. This is a once in a life time experience which is worth
every penny.
Punta
Cana Surfing
Surfing is one of the favorite Punta Cana water sports. People all around the world
surf in the beaches of Punta Cana. The resorts' staff love to see their guests
happy so they don’t have a problem with it. Even though Punta Cana is a good
place for surfing is not the best in the Dominican Republic. Hardcore surfers
will find that the north coast near Cabarete is one of the best places around
the world for it.
The best season to surf is from December t o April when the
swells are stronger but it still can be done any time of the year. Surfers of
beginning to intermediate levels will find Punta Cana a great place to surf, but
for hardcore and expert surfers Cabarete is their best bet. One of the best
places to surf in Punta Cana is Macao beach which is in the west of Bavaro beach. To
get there the local bus is the most economic choice.
Taxis are too expensive for my liking but if you can afford
to do it, feel free to do so. In Macao beach there is this reef break that is
located like 350 meters out that will provide you with the best waves in the
area. Always exercise good judgment at the moment of surfing like not doing it
at night and don’t take too much money with you in the trip to the beach, is
better to leave the wallet in the hotel room.
Punta Cana Windsurfing
One of the most fun water sports in the world is wind
surfing. There is no denying this is a must do for the water lovers. In
Punta
Cana windsurfing is one of the favorites of the people. Even when Cabarete is
the prime place for this sport in the professional level, beginners and
intermediate people can enjoy this fine activity in Punta Cana water sports. Most resorts in
Punta Cana offer the equipment and lessons necessary for the guests that wish to windsurf.
As opposed to normal surfing, the best conditions to
windsurf are found in the summer because the eastern winds are stronger, near the
winter the eastern winds are lower so is not that great to windsurf. During the
day the winds gradually pick up, easy in the mornings and get tougher in the
afternoon. Windsurfing can be quite entertaining and the cost for the gear and
lessons is very affordable, so for the water fans this is a must.
