What to expect once you arrive

The Punta Cana International Airport is located in the eastern region of the Dominican Republic. The airport was built in a traditional Dominican style with open-air terminals, as you can see, it has the roofs covered in palm fronds. That design gives the visitors a strong feel of the Caribbean taste. At the moment of finally getting your luggage, lots of luggage carriers are waiting around to help the tourists. You can carry your own bags but if they are heavy the carriers are more than willing to get the luggage for you. If you want to tip them and have no idea how much, the standard suggestion per bag ranges from 1.00 USD to 5.00 USD.

The tour representative will have a sign of the resort you will be staying and he/she will show you the way to the bus that you should get to take you to the hotel or resort.

In the case that you are not traveling on a charter, there are many taxis available around the airport accepting dollars, euros and Dominican pesos.
