The Occidental Grand Punta Cana or Occidental Grand Flamenco resort in Punta Cana is an immense resort with 877 rooms and 42 very comfortable and relaxing suites. This is a 4 star hotel and resort that really can deliver with it’s amazing all inclusive package. Also is only a few minutes away from the international airport in Punta Cana so the trip to the hotel and vice versa is really short. A huge and wide array of activities combined with a great variety of restaurants and not forgetting the perfectly located facilities make this resort really something else. The only disadvantage of this place could be the lack of wild party nights. The orientation of this resort is more toward families and couples because of it’s not so loud atmosphere.

Rooms

At the Occidental Grand Punta Cana the rooms here are middle sized and have all sorts of fundamental things. A balcony with an amazing view of the area, air conditioning and fans to make sure that you can be in the room feeling fresh are part of the great package here. You can go to the beach and not worry about your possessions, as the rooms have a safe deposit box where your valuables will be waiting for you after a nice relaxing day. If you are feeling like staying a little more time in your room is no problem, they have satellite TV and a mini bar to provide some refreshing drinks. A couple of very comfy wooden chairs and a king size bed complete the view of this good looking place.

Pools and beaches

The pools around here are among the best in Punta Cana not only because of their abysmal size but because their beauty and amazing design as well. There are many chairs around the pool and some umbrellas as well, sadly there are more chairs than umbrellas so if you want an umbrella with your chair better get up early. Some small islands with palms are in the middle of this pools giving them a more tropical and relaxing environment. As usual the swim up bar inside a pool is a must and is present at the Occidental Grand Punta Cana resort.

This resort is located near the center of the almost perfect Bávaro beach. Snow white sand combined with the clear and shining water make this beach a must see.

Food

One of the greatest joys of Punta Cana is the food availability. There is the standard buffet restaurant and 8 a la carte restaurants. The food here is amazing; Mexican, Italian, grill, barbecue and the gourmet restaurant (30% discount sadly not included) are part of the cuisine in this resort. All restaurants here except the buffet require to make reservations and some semi formal dressing. Like in all resorts good tipping can get you many things including sometimes getting inside to a la carte restaurant without a reservation. I personally don’t like doing that but some people don’t mind. There is also some other areas around where you can eat and even when they are not really restaurants they can help to calm the stomach for a while like the snack sport bar “home rum”.

Entertainment

To make sure you don’t lose your drink, there are 7 bars all around the complex. During the stay at the Occidental Grand Punta Cana, the choices of things to do are almost limitless: tennis, jogging, aerobics, aqua aerobics, volleyball, water polo, scuba school, windsurfing (a personal favorite), catamaran, kayak and more. The children will also have a special area for them, like the kids club (4 to 12 years old). All these activities are included, so that means no additional cost. There are some other activities like: the spa, tennis at night, beauty salon, baby sitting, laundry services and water motor sports that unfortunately include an extra fee. The theater where they make all the spectacles is a great place to visit at night to see the fascinating and colorful shows. The Disco Mangu is the place to be whether you want to dance and or just take your favorite drink. This is the place where you will go when you want to have fun at night.
