The Gran Bahia Principe Ambar is a wonderful resort located at 30 minutes from the international Airport. This luxurious hotel is 5 stars and offer 528 junior suites distributed in 3 stories villas.

You can find the nearby city of Higuey approximately an hour away by car. The place has 3 tasty a la carte restaurants, 1 main Buffet, 1 snack bar and 4 bars where you can find your favorite drinks. Disco with drinks included, 24 hour room service and more.

The rooms in the resort are 528 junior suites with Jacuzzi. The rooms also have separate showers with hydro massage columns. The rooms are scattered through the resort in 3 stories villas and are quite large compared to other resorts. All of them are fully equipped with the following: 1 king or 2 full size beds, air conditioning, ceiling fan, sofa bed, iron and ironing board perfect to take out the wrinkles in the night out, hair dryer, coffee machine, satellite TV with a plasma, telephone, safety box, mini bar and a terrace. Bathrooms are completely equipped as well with bathrobes, slippers, soap, shower caps, shower gel and even moisturizing cream. You cannot forget the 24 hour room service. Rooms on the main floor have a patio while the second and third floors have well designed balconies.

The sand of the beach is beautifully white and soft. Both water and the sand were incredibly spotless without trash running around. The seaweed was nonexistent and the water crystal clear as it should be. Lots of coconut palm trees that are perfect for a nice shady spot but they must be reserved early in the morning if you want them. The pool is huge with lots of chairs around it. The water in the pool is very clean and warm. The swim up bar is great when the thirst attack.

The Gran Bahia Principe Ambar has 5 wonderful places where you can eat. First is the Palmyra Buffet which serves all 3 meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner). There is a special theme every night. This buffet has an incredibly variety of meals. The staff is great always ready to take your order. The place looks very classy and for dinner is recommended to wear casual elegant clothes.

The fish, steaks and pasta are simply delicious. The salads are always very fresh and the seafood (shrimp and calamari) as well.

The a la carte restaurants are a great nice alternative when you want something a little different. Portofino (Italian restaurant), El Olivo (Mediterranean restaurant) and Don Pablo (Gourmet restaurant) are the 3 a la carte restaurants in the Gran Bahia Principe Ambar. The lobster at Don Pablo is simply divine and the steaks were well done and very tender. At the Portofino the rack of lamb and the tenderloin were the best. El Olivo had some nice pork rib and very tasty tuna. Portions in these restaurants are not very big but are very common for an establishment of this type. These restaurants must be booked with a reservation and can be quite difficult to get in them.

You will find there too many things you can do in the Gran Bahia Principe Ambar. There is an amphitheater for entertainment at the Gran Bahia Principe Punta Cana and Gran Bahia Principe Bavaro. The Michael Jackson show in the main complex is one of the main entertainments of the night. Free entrance to the discotheque with local drinks included will make your nights very enjoyable. Yoga, merengue and aerobics are among the many activities you will be able to do. You will also enjoy one hour free of windsurfing, boogie boarding, sailing catamarans and even scuba diving classes in the pool. You can also go on several tours like the catamaran tour which includes a lobster dinner at the popular Jellyfish restaurant.
