Day Trips - Punta Cana

by Liz B.
(San Jose, CA)

Hello!

We will be staying at the PuntaCana Resort for a week in March. Seeing that you don't recommend renting a car, how do you venture out downtown to Punta Cana/Higuey? I also agree with you on getting out there and exploring the area and meeting people and savoring the different types of Dominican cuisine. I think that's the best way to experience and appreciate the country's culture.

Answer:

Hello Liz,

The are various excursions which allow you to explore the area and meet locals, for example: the Jeep Safari and the Higuey trip. You can also visit some restaurants around Punta Cana that are located outside the resorts.

In my opinion is better to rent a car if you already know the area, you can also call a taxi, use a guagua (bus) and walk around the area with family or friends.
