Answer:

Hello Jo,

As a Catholic I know how important that is, the first thing you should do is to contact the Grand Oasis and ask if they give a mass on Sundays at: pcgrand.res@hotelesoasis.com. A good number of resorts in the area of Punta Cana have the custom of calling priests to perform a mass on Saturday evenings or Sunday mornings so there is a big chance that they are going to hold one when you go. In the case they do not hold one; you can always ask the resort staff to help you find other nearby resorts that do hold masses and the time. Some of the resorts in Punta Cana that might give a mass are: the Barcelo Punta Cana, Caribe Club Princess, Bavaro Princess and the Majestic Colonial.

You have to keep in mind a very important detail and that is that you might need to get a day or a night pass to enter another resort even if is just to attend mass; that is why is essential that you call to the resort before going to make sure you have everything you need in order to go to mass without problems. Some day passes might cost from $25 to over $100 depending on the resort so is a good idea to add a little extra to your budget just in case. Day and night passes are mostly available during the low season and rarely during peak season. Another choice you have is to visit a small church in the nearby area of the Cortecito beach.

Alternatively, if they don't give mass at any resort nearby you can take a taxi and attend the mass at the Basilica of Our Lady of Altagracia. The basilica is located in the city of Higuey which is about 40 minutes away from the Punta Cana area; that means you have to get up a bit earlier than usual so you have enough time to get to mass. You can take advantage of the trip and do some shopping after mass if you are up for it. Remember that masses in Punta Cana are likely to be in Spanish so don’t get surprised.
