Caribbean Party Drinks

A vacation to the Caribbean is not complete if you don’t taste the delicious Caribbean party drinks. It is a tropical area frequented by many tourists. Most of the people come to the area to experience the vacation of a lifetime. Punta Cana is one of the favorite spots to have lots of fun and relax.

Some people come to the Punta Cana area to sit back around the beach and others to party. It doesn’t matter what you do, the important thing is to enjoy the moment and one element that cannot be overlooked are the refreshing Caribbean party drinks. You have to be honest no vacation to this region can be called a vacation without at least experiencing first hand one of the most popular drinks of the area.

There are several drinks typical to this area and each one of them has its special flavor. Among the most popular drinks you can find pina coladas, cuba libre, sangria, coquito and mojito.


Piña ColadaPina colada

The Piña Coladas are very popular in the Caribbean. Making a Piña Colada can take as much as 5 minutes. To make a piña colada you just have to mix a couple of cubes, 1.5 parts of coconut cream and 2.5 parts pineapple juice all in a blender. You can use a little piece of pineapple for decoration in the glass. This drink can be taken without alcohol like indicated previously or with alcohol. If you want the pina colada with alcohol just add 1.5 parts white rum and 0.5 part of dark rum to the mix and you have one of the most popular Caribbean party drinks.


Sangria

Sangria is a very tasty drink similar to the wine. Even when the main ingredient is red wine it contains several others that give it the distinguish flavor. Besides 1 bottle of red wine you add ¾ cup of sugar with ¾ cup of pineapple juice, ¾ cup of orange juice, ¾ cup of special Puerto Rican rum and maybe ½ cup of lemon juice. Serve it cold with some ice and you will have ready a drink to remember.


Cuba LibreCuba Libre

The Cuba Libre is another popular drink that originally came from Cuba around the time of the war with Spain. This drink is very simple and easy to prepare in a glass. You just need some ice, a can of cola, ¾ oz of rum and some lime juice.




 
Coquito

This drink is usually served during Christmas season. It takes a little while for it to be ready approximately an hour. First you mix (2) 14 oz. cans of coconut cream, with 1/5 teaspoon of cinnamon, 1/9 teaspoon of nutmeg, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, (2) 14 oz. cans of condensed milk and 5 ounces of white rum. Use a blender to combine all the ingredients and put the mix in the refrigerator for an hour then serve. The recipe will make about 34 to 35 oz of coquito.


Mojito

The Mojito is one of the most popular Caribbean party drinks that is originated from Cuba. There are different ways to create it but of the most popular ways is by putting 3 to 4 mint leaves in a glass (preferably Collins) then squeeze a lime over it. Then you add the sugar and mix them up together. Finally add to the mix 1.5 to 2 oz of rum and 2 oz of soda with some ice and you have a nice mojito ready to be served.
