hotel offer 9 incredible restaurants, 731
rooms, barcelo kids club, health spa, casino and more. This hotel
has the advantage of not being too big as needing a ride in a trolley
all the time but is big enough to provide the necessary facilities for
all its guests. Depending on the date of your trip you might encounter
lots of young people partying.
Rooms
The Barcelo Dominican Beach hotel has approximately 731 rooms. The most
common type is the double room. Double rooms can have either a normal
view or a seaview. They include a king size bed or 2 double
beds, balcony, air conditioning, safe, cable TV, iron with ironing
board, minibar, fully equipped bathroom, telephone and coffee maker.
Besides the double room you can also find the family suite. This type
of room is perfect for people traveling with their families. The room
is suitable for a maximum of 5 people, 2 adults and 3 children, 4
adults or 3 adults and 2 children. You can combine it with a vip
package to make your stay even more comfortable. These suites have air
conditioning, ceiling fan, balcony, hairdryer, iron with ironing board,
bathrobes, safety box, wireless internet and 2
bathrooms. One of the bathrooms has a jacuzzi and a separate shower.
The other one has a shower and a tub.
The junior suite and the junior suite ocean view in the Barcelo
Dominican beach resort have a higher degree of luxury compared to the
previously mentioned rooms. They include more elegant and spacious
accommodations with living room with sofa bed, jacuzzi, king size bed
and all the other mentioned amenities. One different thing about these
rooms is the inclusion of the elite club services.
Finally the most majestic of all rooms is the suite. They include a
king size bed, living room with sofa bed, two bathrooms, dining room,
safe, cable TV, minibar, jacuzzi, phone, elite club services and more.
Overall the rooms are fairly clean and well maintained however if you
are staying in this resort a room in the second floor is the best
alternative as the first floor might experience plumbing problems.
Pool and Beach
One of the first things that people look for when coming to the Barcelo Dominican beach resort is obviously the beach. The beach near the resort is full of beautiful white sand and looks very clean. The beach is not as big as in other resorts so if you are looking for a relaxing time is advisable to do it from Jan to Feb or after April. The beach tends to get a bit crowded so you will need to get up very early to get a well positioned chair. All the shops are located in a certain spot near the end of the beach so if you want to avoid being harassed by vendors simply pick a chair away from that area.
There
are 3 swimming
pools in the resort. They are wonderfully decorated with plenty of well
shaded chairs. One of pools is located near the lobby area while the
other ones are a bit farther away. The one near the lobby is where the
music and most activities are done. If you like to be calm is wiser to
stay in the other pools and not the main one.
Food
The Barcelo Dominican beach resort also offers great and tasty meals which can be prepared in any of the 9 restaurants or the 2 snack bars.
The most important restaurants you should know about are the 3 buffets: Palmasol, Coco and Bahia Grill.
The first 2 are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner while the last one is used for breakfast and lunch. The meals at the buffet are fairly good especially the pasta. The line of people trying to get the pasta will give you a hint of why people like it so much. The service is pretty good and the attendants are very courteous. Knowing a little bit of Spanish can definitely help get a better service; so saying something as simple as “gracias” which means thank you can improve your vacation experience.
Aside from the buffets you can also find 6 unique a la carte restaurants in the Barcelo Dominican Beach resort in case you want something different for your dinner. Keep in mind that you cannot smoke in the a la carte restaurants and that you must follow the appropriate dress code.
The first is the Italian
restaurant called Mezzaluna,
then you have Wasabi
(Japanese
restaurant), El
Meson
(Spanish restaurant), Pepito’s
(Mexican restaurant), Bucanero
(Grill restaurant) and Bahia
(Brazilian cuisine).
One of the best dishes in the Mexican
restaurant
is the fajitas, the filet mignon in the Italian restaurant is known to
be one of the preferred delicacies but overall the Japanese restaurant
seems to have capture the attention of most guests. Remember to do
your reservations as soon as you get to the resort otherwise eating
your dinner in the a la carte restaurants can be a bit tough.
Entertainment
The Barcelo Dominican beach hotel will not let you down especially if you are looking to have a great time. The resort offers many activities like table tennis, volleyball, aerobics, Spanish lessons, kayaking, windsurfing, dance lessons, tournaments, darts, sailing, basketball and if you feel very adventurous you can get into excursions for scuba diving, deep sea fishing, horseback riding and snorkeling.
Keep in
mind that all excursions involve an additional fee. Among all
the excursions the one to Saona island is known to be one of the most
interesting ones. The ride to the isle is amazing plus the site for
scuba diving makes every penny worth the trip. You can buy the
excursion from the hotel or from some guys at the
beach. The hotel one is usually more expensive but safer.
Other benefits that you can enjoy while staying at the hotel are:
