Punta Cana

Are there any historical sites or landmarks in Punta Cana?

That is basically what I would like to know.

Answer:

The area of Punta Cana itself consists mostly of resorts and beaches for tourists to enjoy. In Higuey, which is the capital city of La Altagracia, you can go and visit the Basilica of Our Lady of La Altagracia (Nuestra Señora de La Altagracia) and the church of San Dionisio.

If you are very interested in historic sites you can take a day to visit Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic. There you will see the fortress, the Santa María La Menor Cathedral and the National Pantheon among others.
