The Occidental Allegro Punta
Cana (Dreams
Palm Beach Punta Cana) Resort
may not be one of the most
popular ones but it has its advantages.
The ride from the airport
to this resort
won’t be long as is only 20 minutes away from it and is also quite
close from a yacht club where many competitions take place.

This nice vacation spot is a
magnificent 4 star
all
inclusive resort. This middle
sized resort with approximately 540 rooms spread
over 9 buildings each with 3 stories.
You can get a room close
to the beach
if don’t like walking at all, but you must be
sure to request it first. If you are fine with some walks you will be
happy in most of the rooms, as the walk is not that extensive anyway.
Even when families with children,
married couples, and young singles have
a liking for this resort, young singles and couples will enjoy the
place the most. Some people might say the service is not that efficient
mainly because of the language, but in my experience the staff can
handle almost any language as their well trained to do so. They also
offer a crib but you have to request it at the front desk.
Rooms
The accommodations at the
Occidental Allegro Punta Cana resort can be divided into 2 main types
of rooms: superior rooms and junior
suites. There are other types but these are the most common
that people request. The rooms are fully equipped with 2 queen beds,
bathroom with tub and shower, ceiling fan, alarm clock, iron, satellite
TV, and a safe (with $2 fee per day). Most rooms looks very clean,
neat, and with some nice space to relax without forgetting the terrace
that has a very nice view of the ocean if you pick it right. In the
eventuality that you do have a problem with the room (plumbing
problems, doors, etc.) the staff will change it without hesitation.
Pool
and Beach
At the Occidental Allegro
Punta Cana resort (Dreams Palm Beach Punta Cana),
crystalline waters are part of this well designed pool. This resort has
1 big outside pool for the guests. The place is big enough to carry out
many simultaneous water activities. As some other resorts, they provide
scuba
diving clinics in the pool. Many chairs around the pool
provide enough comfort for rest after a nice swim. The towering palm
trees in the small islands inside the pool give it a tropical Caribbean
atmosphere style to the place. The children have an area for them in
this pool as well.
The
beautiful beach decorated with endless palms and turquoise waters
is one of the main reasons to go to Punta Cana. The beach is a very
short walk from the resort, so no complains there but as usual getting
up at 7 am to save the chairs using a towel is the way to go.
There is
some seaweed on the beach though, which can make the swimming a bit
annoying. If a little seaweed is no trouble for you, you will have the
time of your life.
Food
As usual you got your
typical main
buffet restaurant which in this case is the Topaz.
In here you will be offered the main meals like: breakfast,
lunch, and dinner. For breakfast you won’t have much choice than to eat
here, but for the lunch you will have some extra choices like : the
pizza snack bar
and the beach club. I absolutely love pizza, so the pizza bar is
essential to me.
Like an old saying the
best is left for last: the a la carte restaurants. For the
dinner, at the Occidental Allegro Punta Cana, you will have the most
options available like: the Italian
Caruso restaurant, the Caribbean
papaya, the La Yola seafood restaurant,
and the Las brasas grill.
As you know the best stuff comes with disadvantages; these restaurants
require some nice dressing as well reservations. In all honesty, dinner
at these restaurants is way better than doing it at the buffet; so I
highly suggest you to make the reservations fast.
Entertainment
Unlimited
drinks will make the time here even more enjoyable that you could
imagine. If you add a wide array of
water
sports that can be done like: kayaks,
snorkeling, water polo, aqua aerobics, windsurfing, surfing,
and boogie boards you will regret not staying for a longer time.
Gym, bicycles, tennis courts, motor water sports, horseback
riding,
and excursions are just a few of the extra things
you will be able to do. The horseback riding is one that costs 25
US dollars per person and is not that good in this area, as
the place of the ride will be desolated, a bit muddy, and there will be
not that much to see.
The golf course at the Occidental Allegro
Punta
Cana is really good, but only if you have the cash for it,
as the price
can escalate quickly when you combine the caddy, tee, and other fees.
Some of the excursions here are very well worth their price, like one
to
Isla Saona,
Isla
Catalina, and Manati
park
(Check the daytime activities section).
The night
shows are a great way to start the night, they usually start
like from 9:30 to 10 pm. The disco at night is the place to
hang out if you are looking for an awesome time with unlimited drinks.
There is also a casino but is like 15 minutes away
from the main area, meaning that you will probably have to
wait for the little trolley-like car to take you there.
