Night Life in Punta Cana

Yes, It's Party Time!!!

Let’s talk now about one of the most important aspects of a vacation: Night Life in Punta Cana.

I have to confess that I'm not a party person; actually, I don't even like pubs, night clubs, or discos. But during our visit to Punta Cana I had only three choices: spend the night at my room watching TV, (well, I can do that at home), walking around the resort watching how everyone was having fun (I stayed this time at the Caribe Club Princess Resort), or join my sister, brother, and other relatives and going out with them.

I thought that life is too short to spend the nights at my room watching TV, so I decided to "explore" the night life in Punta Cana.

  • Once the night falls the range of activities that can be done change drastically. Usually after 9:00 pm is when the fun starts, the night shows are one of the best ways to start the night. In this shows the performers do a wide array of acts like: dancing, jokes, and the most crazy things you can imagine.

  • There is at least one show of this type every night. Basically in every hotel and resort in Punta Cana you can find these shows.

In a place like Punta Cana, is almost impossible to run out of activities to do. After the shows, there still plenty of things that can be done. The bar and disco are logically the next step to go. At midnight is the time when the night life in Punta Cana starts picking it up. The clubs get packed with people of all nationalities: American, Dominican, French, Canadian, Dutch, German, etc. The music in the clubs go from merengue which is the prime tune in the Dominican Republic, bachata, and sometimes international dance music.

Areito is one of the best nightclubs in Punta Cana. In fact we visited this one and I absolutely recommend it. I didn't dance, but I enjoyed so much watching how the others were dancing. The most interesting thing I found out was how many "young at heart people" were dancing at the disco.

People dancing at the discoAt the night life in Punta Cana people in their 20's and in their 40's, 50's, 60's, and even in their 70's were there dancing. It was amazing to watch that age doesn't matter when it's time to have fun!

By the way, the name areito in the taino language means “dance of the gods”. The place is decorated with artifacts and Indian objects. Areito is a private club where locals and hotel clients get together to have fun and dance. The nightclub is exclusive and is located in a safe area inside the Caribe Club Princess hotel resort. There are 2 dance areas in the club, one area mainly have merengue, salsa and bachata music while the other one have international music. They have a big screen TV where you can watch music videos.

Let's talk now about the Pacha disco. This one features live shows with many bands of merengue and bachata from the Caribbean area for a small fee. This disco is located at the Riu hotel resort complex and is the biggest one in the area. The shows are presented twice a week and you can enjoy them every day from 11:00 pm to 4:00 am. This awesome place offers a variety of drinks and different types of music like: rock, pop, salsa, merengue, and also hip hop. Another night club is the Webster Hall Punta Cana, which is located at the Palma Real Shopping Village.

Presidente beerOk, so after all that dancing, it's time to a very important part of a good night life in Punta Cana and that is: a nice drink. In the nightclubs they have a nice variety of Caribbean party drinks. The most famous in there is the Cuba libre which consist in some Dominican rum with Pepsi or other coke and a lemon slice. We have to mention also that there is another  popular drink, not only in Punta Cana, but also in the Dominican Republic: the Presidente beer! I don't drink beer, but beers lovers will like it. How do I know that? Because I never saw anyone saying that they didn't like it. To be honest, I saw people drinking two or more. (At least they didn't have to drive!) This beer is one their great prides of Dominican, and when they serve it is so cold that tourist cannot resist it.

There are many more drinks offered in the clubs like piņa colada (so delicious) and most international drinks are available as well. The service is very fast so you don’t have to wait for long to get your drinks.

Now, if you need a change of pace after the disco a visit to the casino can help a lot. The casino makes the night life in Punta Cana more interesting. Most casinos remain open from 4:00 pm to 4:00 am to provide the tourists a nice and exciting moment, not mentioning that some casinos have a disco inside or very close to them. This makes the trip from a place to the other a lot easier. I only spent 10 US dollars at the casino and I played almost every slot machine there and didn't win anything. The same happened to my sister and brother, but my dad was very lucky and went back to the hotel with 20 US dollars more in his pocket. We stayed at the casino until about 2:30 A.M.  Believe me, finding a casino in the Punta Cana night life is an easy task, almost every resort has one and the ones that don’t have a casino offers you transportation to take you to the closest casino nearby. Even if I didn't win a penny, I had a lot of fun! And having fun is... Priceless!
